About Our Urban League
We Empower Communities and Change Lives

The Urban League of Middle Tennessee is one of over 100 nationwide affiliates of the National Urban League headquartered in New York City.  We are headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee and service members, clients, investors, and employers in the Metro Service area.

The National Urban League is the nation's oldest and largest community-based movement devoted to empowering African Americans to enter the economic and social mainstream. As a national organization, the League has performed extensive service in the areas of employment, education, economic development, housing and crime prevention. Urban Leagues across the United States serve millions of people through job assistance, education, housing, drug treatment and prevention programs and services.

The Urban League of Middle Tennessee was chartered on

April 15, 1968 by a group of diverse business and community leaders to “Carry on programs of social service…improving the economic welfare…”

Over the past 37 years, the Urban League of Middle Tennessee has built a strong reputation for connecting job seekers and employers together for success.  We embrace hard to serve populations as well as high skilled, experienced job seekers.  Our Urban League has  found jobs for thousands and saved numerous families from the plight of homelessness. We have provide housing, financial literacy, and after-school programs for youth.

We remain in a turnaround situation and are proud to report that we are presently operating from a position of strength.

We Empower Communities and Change Lives
